Naloxone and Overdose Response Training in Kalamazoo

Build preparedness for a possible opioid overdose with compassionate, practical education. Often searched for as Narcan training in Kalamazoo, this program covers naloxone, emergency response and connections to ongoing support.

What you will explore

Knowledge you can
put into practice.

  • Recognize signs of a possible opioid overdose and contact emergency services.
  • Understand naloxone administration using the product instructions and an appropriate training demonstration.
  • Identify immediate assistance, including following the emergency dispatcher’s instructions.
  • Understand that overdose symptoms may return and that further naloxone may be needed.
  • Stay with the person until emergency help arrives and identify recovery resources for follow-up.

Learn through practice.

Use a trainer-led, non-emergency practice scenario to rehearse calling for help, locating naloxone, following device instructions and communicating with responders. Participants should not use medication on one another in class.

Understanding the scope.

Community classes, employer training, church training and private organizational sessions can be requested. Dates, instructors, supplies and delivery arrangements must be confirmed by SMRC. This training does not replace professional medical or emergency assistance. If an overdose is suspected, call 911 and use naloxone if available according to its instructions.

Emergency help comes first.

Training does not replace professional medical or emergency assistance. If you suspect an overdose, call 911, use naloxone if available according to its instructions, follow the dispatcher’s directions, and stay until emergency help arrives. Symptoms may return after naloxone; emergency assessment is still necessary.
